Wow, what a downer....the day after! It was an incredible weekend! I missed those of you who didn't make it! And it was so great to catch up with those who did. We've all aged so nicely, I think!....Some haven't aged at all! Thanks again to Lalla! YOU ROCK, girl. I hope I can do more next time to take some stress off of you. I think the 87 section at home games is a great idea! Can't wait for the memory book and to see all the pictures posted from the weekend. Let's all do better at keeping in touch! I LOVE YOU ALL! Class of 87....Classic!

Glenn, I am not even sure that Kathy and I did a worth while job. Never thought of streemers. Things have come a long way. Shelley, our plans have changed. We just decided to go to my friends house and swim in the pool instead of the beach tomorrow. See you guys tomorrow night.

Ashley, you'll have to show me this scar from you and Kathy's toilet paper decorating event. Must be a good one. My folks don't live at that house anymore. They moved to Kings Road subdivision around 1992. My house in MS was recently rolled by some of my wife's students. Thankfully they used streemers and not Charmin. It was quite colorful!

Dee Dee, I am impressed that you remembered my birthday. And you were right, mine is December 30th. I am probably the baby of the group. I hated it then, but I like it alot now. You guys are all older than me. :) Ashley, we are going to the beach but I'm not exactly sure where. Why don't you send me an email with your cell # and maybe we can all meet up.

Happy early birthday, Darlene and happy belated birthday, Jeannie! Anyone turning 38 after September 9 or am I the youngest? Darlene, my hubby graduated with around 500 in Denver and still keeps in touch with several of his friends. He regretfully missed his 20th reunion but plans to attend his 25th. Wow.. what school did your hubby go to with 22??

Oh! I also wanted to add that it seems like we have a handful of no-shows for this weekend. Our committee talked about this a while back, and it might be appropriate to suggest now. If those of you with extra tickets know of someone from another graduation year that would love to attend this weekend, invite them to use your ticket. I know there were quite a few 88 grads that were 87 wannabes, for example. ;) We'd love to have them.

Hey Glenn, I was getting a pedicure this morning (not that you care about that) but as the guy was looking at my legs he said, How did you get that scar? "That scar" would be the one I got trying to toliet paper your house. I will remember you as long as I live because I get questioned about that scar every time someone knew notices. Do your parents still live in that house?

Checking in once more before we set sail. Thanks for the toenail update Eric! Must have information. The Rhodes clan leaves Music City Friday morning. We're staying in Destin at the Pelican Beach condos. Great place and family oriented! Had a blast there last year on Father's Day Weekend. I purposely put on 30 pounds for the reunion so I wouldn't make anyone feel bad. :) I'll get back down to my sleek male model body when we return home. I predict a fun weekend for everyone. I'm coming stag on Friday night. The family will be in tow on Saturday. I think Christina is still puzzled by the fact I liked most of the people I went to high school with. She can't say the same....haha. Now, time to dig out those yearbooks...

Hey Gang, we're already out at Pensacola Beach having our own family "beach week." Having visited only during the holidays for so many years, it's weird to see the beach crowded with so many tourists. But we're having a great time swimming and visiting family. Can't wait to visit all you Taters this weekend. I'm working on my tan (burn) this week, although I don't think I'll be able to match my graduation tan (reference my "then" photo). I didn't lose the few pounds I wanted to either. It wouldn't have helped anyway; I'm bingeing on the Krispy Kreme we don't have back home in our little Texas town. I don't have a hair appointment, but I am planning on driving out to the base for a fresh "medium regulation fade." (No pedicure, but I clipped my toenails last night. Not that any of you are going to see my toes, but at least now you know I practice good hygiene.) See you all soon!

Everyone, take note of the last minute details that will be posted on the homepage of the site over the next few days. Donna- Beth found the Dunning Company and has coordinated everything with them. I know the books will be available to everyone we have information on and I think the way they handle this is a snail mail out after the reunion, to take orders. Okay, I am curious......how many of you out there have an appointment with your stylist this week for a new cut and style? How many of you have an appointment for a mani/pedi? How may of you are going to the beach (or tanning bed) to add some glow to your skin? I'll start by saying YES, YES and YES! The funny thing is none of that really matters, but for some crazy reason it makes me feel better (or as my husband would say, I just like spending the money) Regardless, I can't wait to see all of you, with or without mini-makeovers!

Glenn, That is going to be one of the great things about keeping the website up and running. We can plan "mini-reunions" at the click of a button. I was planning for us to have a 20 1/2 year reunion at one of the games- maybe homecoming. We could even meet somewhere in the 9 mile road area before the game to eat, get Chet's to cater a fish fry, or something like that before the game. Things like that will be simple now that we have gotten in contact with so many people and can spread the word with the site. Of course, I hope people will keep looking for people on the missing list. "Each one reach one" and we could have that list knocked out!

We did have an awesome band and a fantastic group of cheer "hotties"!! Friday nights at Pete Gindle Stadium were the best! I've noticed in my grown up years from attending other HS football games that there just doesn't seem to be the same level of enthusiasm we had back in the day. How about a Class of 87 night at a home game this year? I'd even make the 4 hr drive for that. Would we have to sit up in the old people section?

Lucinda, I know what happened to Jeff Castleberry. Ask me Friday night and I'll fill you in. I actually spent all day yesterday with his oldest daughter, Tiffany. She's awesome! She hates that her dad is going to miss the reunion. I loved the friday night football games, too! I remember dressing up as the Aggie for one game my senior year. Shelley had taught me most of the cheers and I definetly knew the dance to the fight song! I thought I was a pretty cool Aggie, myself! The best part was cheering next to my BFF at least once in highschool! I did get in trouble a few times for some "illegal" moves! I had to spice it up, ya know! That was a highschool high lite, for sure. And I agree with Shel about how awesome it was to watch the band march in and listen to the drum line. I got chills every time! Our band ROCKED! As did the cheerleaders. Kudos, ladies!

I just checked on line and there are no rooms available for the 29th at Springhill Suites. I do however know another place. It's the Paradise Inn. It's right on Via De Luna within walking distance to the Hilton. The rooms are really nice. We'll be staying there for Friday and they are pretty reasonable. I think a queen is about $130.00 and for this time of year that's pretty good. They do have rooms available as of today. Just in case anyone is interested.

Really nice and clean hotel!

Thank you so much for the birthday wish Ms. Kathleen. I think I liked 28 much better than 38!! I really don't like getting older. David and I just got back from Bonefish Grill and we ran into Mike and Tina Workman. Mike said to tell everyone hello and he hated he was going to miss the reunion. Yes, Suzy, being out of school is great. However, I have not had one day home yet. I am looking forward to being able to stay home just one day with nothing to do. It looks hopeful in July. Senior pictures....my friend was over the other night and her 12 year old daughter was looking at my senior picture. She was cracking up. The girls kept saying "Ms. Ashley, that does not even look like you". I explained that 50 pounds tends to change the way you look just a little.

Ashley, are you enjoying being out of school? I sure am... sleeping until 6:00 is so late! Donna, thanks for uploading the senior pages!! My yearbooks were ruined in Hurricane Ivan, so I've enjoyed looking!! However, I hate my picture... the photographer told me to hold my eyes open, and I look like a mannequin!! OMG! two-bits, how many times did we try and change that old cheer? but never did. Now that is a cheer I will never forget, moves and all. Talking about the fight song, remember those HUGE pom-poms we had? Hello, they must have weighed ten pounds. My daughter just rolls her eyes when I tell her about the old days. Now pom-poms are quite petite. Hey we could teach those cheerleaders a thing or two I'm sure.

Lalla, I still remember the dance routine to the fight song. Of the few times that I have been to a Tate football game, I start doing the routine as soon as I hear the fight song. And I always loved the drum line playing when the band marched in before the game and ran up the stairs. Some things are worth remembering. Lucinda, John was a great cheerleader. And it is awesome that he is teaching inner city kids. That is a tough job. Nice to see that you joined in, Joe.

I can't believe I have not said anything about this... YET. When I started going back to football games last fall, since my daughter wanted to go, I DID have a moment of coherent memory when the fight song played. I remembered the fight song dance the cheerleaders used to do and the simplified version that we ALL used to do in the stands. SADLY, no one does it anymore. That is, until this past fall. I taught it to my friend who had a son on the team, and much to my daughter's chagrin, we had a blast dancing with the band. The cheerleaders did do a routine to the fight song, but it was much more compiclated and not something the fans could easily join in on. I sure would love to see that tradition revived. Oh, and I'm sure Amy Breault Simmons is rolling her eyes at me about now, but my cheesy nostalgia is one of the reasons she loves me so much! :)

John was a really good cheerleader! I actually heard from him a few years back. He was in Atlanta teaching, inner city kids. Ok, what ever happened to Jeff Castleberry? Seeing the yearbook reminded me that he was in SGA. And Julie Graham, is another person who went MIA, what's up with these people? Are they in the witness protection program or something?

If Hunter's all-star team does not make it to the championship game... we will be there. We went ahead and paid for the night just in case. We will be there Saturday for the picnic and Saturday night. Lucinda, I remember the John McCargo crush... Everybody just thought you guys were good cheerleading partners...

I was at Troy Williams hose a few weekends ago. He lives out towards Walnut Hill. He was playing keyboard and my boyfriend was playing guitar and singing. I told him about the website but he might not have remembered since we all left his house and went to another establishment until closing. Guess I need to remind him or his wife.

I want a driveway party with Jeannie and Kathy! Jeannie, thanks for trying to stir up the message board with me, but it looks like the guest book is the place to be. My "what to wear" topic was lame anyway. Gaddis, once again I laughed out loud at the computer thanks to you. And Shelly, Bobby and I were very good friends in Middle School, but I developed a crush on him. I can say this in public because he totally knew it. He even signed my yearbook something like, "Love ya...like a FRIEND". :) And Susan, I didn't get a chance to say that I'm SO glad it worked out for you to be there! It's so close! I've been in San Antonio for a convention and I come back to see that the Guest Book has exploded and people are talking about me in tight shorts and being tied up! (Thank you very much, Jeannie!) For the record, my shorts fit comfortably back then, I've erased completely from my mind the thought of being tied up to another guy, and I have never had a crush on Bobby Kreiner. Oh, and Jeannie, I haven't seen nor heard from Joel Welk since I moved out of P'cola in '93. We went to church together at Olive Baptist and then he started going to East Brent Baptist when he married a girl who attended there. He had a least one child back then and was working for his dad, who owned the local Charlie Chips distributor. He and his sister also had a popcorn-boutique-gift-shop-thingy back behind University Mall somewhere. What's become of him since then, I don't know.

Shelley, I do remember those cheers at the basketball games. I remember It's hot, it's hot, it's hot in here. Let's go to the store and buy a Keg of cold beer! I remember yelling at the other team's coach when he would stand up. We would yell, "Sit down Waldo." I remember standing and turning our backs when the other team's cheerleaders woud come out on the court and cheer. Good times!

Okay Michael Todd, I don't see your name on the "Who's Coming" page. You said that you were coming. Darrin - I didn't remember that basketball cheer until I read your post. I laughed out loud! I also remember Crockett starting quite a few cheers. He must have taken over after Jimmy Vann left. "Na na na na, na na na na, hey hey hey, goodbye!"

Ashley... Tidwell... got it. I'll look next time we go that way. And we'll look for you in Whataburger. Monica... I hate I missed you. On a Friday night... we were probably at home eating pizza. Yes, please look for me in Target on 9 Mile Road. I'll tell my husband that I HAVE to go this Saturday to meet some old friends from school. Maybe he'll buy that excuse. And if I am not in there... I'll be next door at Marble Slab. I also emailed a couple people about tickets...

OK, I did some emailing to a few people that I thought were planning on coming but havent' bought tickets yet. I'm afraid there are people out there, unlike those of us who check the web page daily, and they are unaware that there is a deadline on ticket purchasing. So take a few minutes and send an email or make a phone call to anyone who you thought was coming but hasn't bought tickets yet.

Ashley, I had to trade that old thing in after my first year of Jr. college. It looked good going down the road but you never knew if you were going to reach your destination or not. Yes I remember the beach week ear ring. Still have the picture. I also remeber when I came home for Bachelareotte and my dad comments that the next time he saw me with an ear ring I'd better be in a dress. I tossed the ear ring into the bay at the end of the week on my way back home. I only wore an ear ring once more (during college) for a week long ATO fraternity party. I'm thinking a tatoo now??

Susan, we live on Tidwell Road. the next time you are going down Chumuckla hwy. to P'cola, look for Tidwell. I am always in Target and we eat at the Whataburger quite a bit. Our only choices are Whataburger, Santinos and Subway. And of course, no one will deliver to where we live. Glenn, do you really still have the red mustang??? I remember the gear shifters and Craig would have to take his off before he got home. Craig and Glenn, remember your earrings beach week, have we already discussed that. Darrin, we will miss you. have a great time on your trip.

Susan, I had to laugh at your last post- on Friday, my family was on our way to Loango, Ala.(near Andalusia), and on our way, we stopped at David's Catfish House in Brewton. I was looking all around the restaurant for you. Knowing you live in Brewton, I just knew I was going to run into you. Oh Well, you were probably at Target. Ha Ha-now I'll have to start looking for you there!

Ashley... we travel through Jay and Pace to go to Pensacola sometimes. Thomas (my husband) loves to stop and eat at the Whataburger across from Stonebrook. It is amazing we can't make it from Brewton to Pensacola without stopping to eat... but it is true. When I go to Pensacola now... I look around at the people just in case it is an old '87 tater (especially in Target). I keep thinking I will run into one of you guys, but I haven't. I've seen Kathy at my sister's house and that's it. I look forward to seeing everyone in 3 weeks.

Ashley, Yes, I do remember Jimmy Vann now. It took me awhile and sorting through many cob webbs in my head but I do remember him. There were about ten of us that went to see Hank Jr at the civic center with Jimmy. He went and stood in line for a long time and got us front row seats. The Hatch brothers were part of that crew and I think it was Jerry that got so drunk that Jeff had to take him out to the truck before Hank ever took the stage. We ended up staying in our cars & trucks out at Spring Lake that night.

I remember Jimmy Vann. Wayne Fillingim and I used to hang out with him at his trailer. He was a good four or five years older than us. I remember a few of his cheers he used to yell while we played B-ball, some of which are not family-friendly enough to mention here but were quite funny. (One of them started with "Chewing tobacco, Chewing tobacco, Chewing tobacco spit, if you're not an Aggie...) Last I heard from Jimmy he had joined the Air Force back around '88 or '89 and was loading bombs on jets somewhere in Europe. Hadn't heard from him since. And where is Wayne Fillingim? As for the reunion, I'm afraid I'm still not going to be able to make it. I'll be in Brazil on a mission trip. Have fun without me! I'll try to make the next one.

Reunion tidbit.........200.00 is maybe a little high but we have a friend who is going to her 10 year reunion this month (Pace High). I think it costs maybe 20 or 30.00 for the whole weekend. I can not remember where Friday night is going to be but the big event on Sat. is at Oops Alley. That would be the bowling alley in Pace. Friday night was somewhere in Pace as well. So......you pay for what you get. Gee, i hope no one from that reunion is reading this. Glenn, Jimmy Vann used to start all the cheers at the basketball games. he would yell, and we would repeat after him. Susan, Kathy was not with me going throught Brewton. She went through Atmore and we met in Evergreen. I live pretty close to you though. We are almost in Jay. We are less than 5 minutes from Jay.

Tracy, I remember your dolphin kissing days. Who DIDN'T want to be Tracy Ledbetter?! :-) Well, Ok, except for actually kissing the dolphin! -------------------------------------- Aside from that, suggestion that doesn't take much time: Everyone needs to look at the list of people who are attending the reunion, and then send emails to those whose names aren't there and let them know that you don't see their names on the list and you are really hoping to see them at the reunion. $200 is a lot of $$ to fork out, but your 20 year reunion only comes once... Just a thought...

Crocket- my dolphin kissing days are long over!!! Of all the memorabilia I have of those years the gulfarium commercial didn't make the cut....it was before we owned a VCR and waaaay before we knew how to use one! Ashley- yes, Bobby remembers Danny White very well. They were very good friends. Small world! I also remember Jimmy Vann. He had a pet spider, or so he said, and he used to freak me out talking about it. He was a lot of fun at the basketball games our sophomore year. Does anyone else remember going to the basketball games to see if we could score over 100 points? Wasn't the guy's name 'Tat' that was so good that year? And as far as the body and the tan goes...I'm over it! I've planned for about 6 months to up the diet and exercise plan and here we are within 3 weeks of this thing and I had pasta for lunch and dinner today!!!! With dessert after each one.... I give! I don't even have enough time to recover from surgery now either. OH WELL!

And Ashley, thank you for thinking of me when you went through Brewton. Wish you could live there... don't 'cha? I know Kathleen wasn't with you and thinking about me because I called and left a message for her 3 weeks ago and I still haven't heard from her (just kidding). Since I have bought my tickets... ok, I am here to defend myself.........I just thought my butt was dragging after teaching 180 days. Teaching "ain't got nothin" on bible school. I just finished bible school a few hours ago. OMG....What I was thinking when I volunteered to do adult snacks. I have not been on the webiste because I have been up until midnight every night cooking (HONEST). My family looks in the refrigerator and says, are we allowed to eat this. I just brought pizza home for dinner and I heard David say, Reid, can we eat this pizza. Dee Dee, what a memory, yes I have a birthday coming up soon. It is June 20 and if I remember correctly, Donna Jean is JUne 21. We used to go to each others slumber parties. I was on the computer every day at work but since I have been out of school I have been out of town twice and done a week of bible school. Kathy and I went on our "girls" trip last week and we did not take the laptop so we could not email anyone. We did take some pics that Kathy should be posting soon. We did have fun talking about all the memories and 'dates" we had. All of our friends that were with us are tired of hearing about our reunion. Susan, we went through Brewton on the way there and home. I thought about you when we drove through. Oh, Tracy.....I did bible school this week with one of Bobby's neighbors from school(actually his wife). Ask him if he remembers Danny White. She was asking me if I remember Mickey or Jimmy Vann. Craig and Gleen, I know you guys have to remember Jimmy Vann????????

Crockett- now that you mentioned it, Ashley was a lot more talkative when she was at work. But I'm here to tell ya....sometimes us moms have to go to work just to be able to breathe sometimes. Being a wife and mom along with EVERYTHING else that is included with that makes it hard to find time to go to the bathroom, much less participate on the website. But I've noticed everyone has slacked off. I hope we didn't burn ourselves out already. So come on, people! Let's liven up the party!!!! IN 3 WEEKS we will all finally be together again! I'm not into concerts much anymore. It makes me too tired the next day! Bobby and I checked out Kiss at the Civic Center about 4 years ago. Wow. 1 a.m. Should have been in bed about 2 hours ago, but wanted to finish reading. First, nice to see I didn't sear any lasting, negative memories into anyone's psyche. But I must say my previous assumptions about the "angelic" ladies of Tate have been shattered. You really were the girls mama warned me about. :) Some random statements. Shon C., the skinny asst. band director you were trying to remember was Mr. Treadway. I remember him well and that goofy panama hat he wore from time to time. One weird cat. My most lasting memory was him standing in front of the jazz band (at about 8:30 in the morning) and singing an impassioned rendition of Pagliacci and then....... dead silence. Talk about an awkward moment. Anyway, a note on Renee Steele since she has not worked up the nerve to post. She is coming to the reunion, voluntarily or involuntarily. I know where she works and she owes us big time for skipping out on the 10th. Bought my tickets today and I'm really looking forward to seeing everyone. I'll have to check in here more often. There are definitely a lot of memories to share but it's too late and I don't type that fast...

Now that you say it, Scott, that does sound familiar. You definitely deserve some credit. You and Cliff, and all of the guys, were fierce and clever competitors. I also remember some great pick-up football games. Ahh, good times.

Well, I guess I'll join the knitting circle.... :) Somewhere down the page I read some smack from Troil about volleyball. His memory fails him. Time to set the record straight. Cliff C. and I gave him and Alex all they could handle. When we won the first game (after they had spent two months practicing) they were TICKED!! Hahaha. They got us best two out of three but it was no cakewalk. Man! If you all talk as much as you type we may need an extra day for the reunion! I spent 15 minutes reading and only scratched the surface of the guestbook. Good times ahead.

How many of you have graduating seniors this year? I do! It is so completely weird, to try and think of myself and my daughter at the same age. She seems older to me than I was. I was so clueless about so many things and thought I knew it all. Oh, well, I know I need to buy my tix. And Susan, you are going to the reunion, so you might as well go ahead and buy your tickets! Now.

Ashley- I'll have to ask Nancy what numbers she has. However, I think we started our freshman year with somewhere around 600; by our senior year it was 450 or so; and I think close to 400 actually graduated. I have a list of classmates that we are trying to use to keep track of who is on the site, who we've found but they haven't signed on to the site, and who is not found. On that list there are about 405 names.

Krispy Kreme was the dessert for Mother's day. there is nothing like a hot Krispy Kreme doughnut. We always go to Krispy kreme on the way home from the beach. My kids think you can not pass by without stopping. (wonder where they got that idea from). oh well, i will just wear a moo moo to the reunion but I will make sure I have cute shoes to match and jewelry. you know, its all about accessories.

YEARBOOKS FOUND! We are in the middle of a major attic clean out and I FINALLY found the box with yearbooks, the 10 year reunion directory, project grad t-shirt, class of '87 t-shirt, Sharon's cheerleader patch? (maybe b/c we had a display of memorabilia at the 10 year?) and more. The puzzling thing is my senior yearbook is not there. Funny though- Nancy- you didn't sign my Junior yearbook. There is a whole page RESERVED FOR NANCY written at the top- and it's blank. So maybe I didn't sign your Senior one to get you back! :) haha. Amy, Monica, Sharon- be on your best behavior or I have some really lovely middle school pics from a slumber party at my house when we decided we would have a "model photo shoot." They are hilarious! Susan- can't believe I've never seen you at the 9 mile road Target! I am there multiple times a week-

Hey Kristin! I remember the Creamery too (on 9-Mile Rd.) .... how could I forget it, it was my first job! Alas, I only worked there for a few months before moving on to the wonderful world of "Burger Inn" and "Video Vendor!" Ahhh, the joys of high school jobs. Anyone remember "Burger Inn" (in the Winn Dixie shopping center on 9-Mile rd.)? They had the best onion rings! And, I sold a lot of video memberships to you guys too! I'm so glad the days of "high school jobs" are long gone .... and it's almost time to dig up that torch and pass it on to my daughter! LOL.

Beth... I can only imagine, but please don't remind me of whatever I spilled my guts about in the yearbook. I guess it was probably a 'live and learn' situation. I've had MANY of those thru the years!!! I actually saw Kathy (or Kathleen as my sister calls her) Fryman the other day. She looks great. No different from high school. btw Kathy... Guess we thought it was important to keep it such a big secret!!! I am excited about the reunion BUT..... I am sooo excited that we only have 18 1/2 days of school left!!! Woo hoo!! And for those of you that have to work all summer, I am truly sorry. I've read some of mine, and it made me sad because there are SO many promises to keep in touch, (KIT!), FOREVER. But I'll be ok, because in June, I'm going to actually see some of you people I promised to stay in touch with! I have to share Bryan Henderson's remark in our 8th grade yearbook... "Beth, It's been great knowing you this year. Hope to see you next year. Sorry this is so boring, but you're excited by everything. Tate #1, Bryan" That cracked me up! We weren't even good friends at that point. Pretty astute for an 8th grade boy.

Funny story about having it all "together". After my friend Melissa had her 3rd child, she was frazzled. She had them all loaded one morning and was leaving for school. She flew out of the garage and realized the back door was still open and tore the door right off the car. I flew out of our carport one night on the way to bunco and I knocked my mirror off my car. I picked it up, went back in and handed it to David and walked out again. He was so proud!

Monique, I understand the 10 year difference is like starting over. My body reacted to being pregnant very differently in my 30s than in my early 20s. But I, too, feel very blessed! I have 4 wonderful, healthy, beautiful children and a great hubby!! And that leads to my lesson of the day... never say never! I had 2 children early and was not going to have any more. But, after 10 years of marriage, I divorced. Shortly, I fell in love with someone who had no children. So, at 34 with a 12 and 16 year old, I started over. I did, however, get my 2 girls. :) Life is amazing, isn't it?

Donna, oh yea..........ball park food and diet just don;t mix. I decided last year I was going to join weight watchers because I knew so many people that had lost weight doing it. WEELLLLL, needless to say, I did not loose any. I could have 25 points a day and Milton Bakery doughnut holes were 2 points each. I ate a dozen of those faster than you can blink you eyes and it was not even 7am. I was pretty much "screwed" the rest of the day.

My very first job was at Wendy's over by 2001 and the Builder's Square movie theater. I worked there for six months, but when they started making me close 4-5 nights a week (mostly weekends-YUCK) I decided there had to be something better. Fridays and Saturdays about 1:00 am were always fun times...when the 2001 crowd started to get the "munchies". AND, I was one of the Ferry Pass crowd. I moved to that school after PCS for sixth. I cheered there, but I was never part of the "cheerleader crowd". JR HIGH is tough on kids, but thankfully our town has its own school system. All the kids know one another, and for the most part tend to roll with the "punches".

My first job was at Quincys!! For maybe a month? I think it was the summer after Jr year? I can't remember. I SURELY would have remembered working with you, Monique, or Joe. I'm pretty sure I miserably ALONE. I've exaggerated the story through the years, and now I tell people I wore a hair net and passed out cups. My Dad made me do it. He thought I was spoiled, I guess. Course, he never made my sister Jennifer do it. She was too fragile for "food industry" work. Oh, the path of a first born is tough! I remember Bryan Henderson and Todd Boyd at different times picking me up after "work". Bryan flat out made fun of my uniform, and Todd, always kind...just kind of smirked. Good times, good times...

Aahhh....there has been a lot of talk about Rax...I served many chocolate chip and mint chocolate chip milkshakes to you! While you were getting milkshakes, and playing...I was there working. What a wild but fun first job...nowadays, kids don't want to work in the "food industry"...they think they're beyond that...hey, it paid my car insurance! Mo, didn't Joel Campbell work at Quincy's with you?

OK, this was the first time I got on here... I scimmed down the page and boy do ya'll have better memories than me!! Middle school? Besides what schools I went to - Workman in 6th and FP for 7th and 8th - I barely remember anything! Well, maybe a boy or two. Anyway... ladies, I sure hope none of you are like trying to get skinny for this reunion! Especially any of you with 3+ kiddos! I believe we are all beautiful just the way we are... right?? :)

My first job was very short lived. I worked one full dinner shift at the Oriental House on Hwy 29 across from the golf course. Things were going well, I worked my shift and then as we were cleaning the restaurant for the night, I was asked to clean the men's room and walked in on the owner's son, Gil! I was completely mortified and embarrassed! There was no way I was going back to work! And me being the painfully shy person I was back then, I begged my mother to call and quit for me!

I can't remember if this was my first job or not, but does anyone remember Quincy's? They had the best yeast rolls and chocolate pudding. It was on 9 Mile Road in front of the KMart. I remember Heather (Savage) worked at Rax, they had the best milkshakes. I think my favorite job was working at Seville. I liked singing every night.

Ah, the mention of Kentucky Fried Chicken brought back memories of my first job. I was a fry cook at the KFC on Davis Hwy. Wayne Fillingim and I both worked there and I believe Heather Savage's older brother was there, too. (Wayne, where are you?) Is it ironic that I now work and live in Col. Sander's hometown of Corbin, KY? Come visit me and I'll take you on a tour of Sander's Cafe, the first KFC! Anyone else remember their first job?

Carla-so good to hear from you! I think we were in the same classes year after year at Jim Allen. I have so many wonderful memories of Elem. School. I was lucky enough to do my student teaching there 14 years ago. Several of our teachers were still there! Soft spoken? My mom says I never stop talking now! She can't believe how quiet I was years ago! I guess age brings many changes. I'm not sure of the childcare name, but my sister's kids attend the one by the Nine Mile Road Kentucky Fried Chicken / overpass. She has been very pleased.

Well, i like to wear "big" shoes. David hates them. He asked me one day why I wore such big shoes, I told him they made my legs look longer and skinnier. He looked at my legs, shook his head, and said, "No they don't". Not a nice thing to say. I am so graceful in my big shoes (NOT), last year I was walking to my classroom with 20 6 year olds behind me. I twisted my ankle and fell off my big shoe RIGHT on the ground in front of all of my class. I was so embarrassed. I will walk very slowly at the reunion so I will not fall off my big shoes!!! So girls, just get some big shoes and no one will recognize you.

I saw Mr. Twarkins occasionally-he would come to the school to see his wife. I believe they retired a few years ago! Does anyone remember Mrs. Ramsey from Ransom? What about Mr. Josey? I think he taught Science. I can't remember the year, but David Dunn sang "Johnny Be Good" in the school talent show. Tracy Ledbetter was in the talent show too. She sang "Hopelessly Devoted To You" from the GREASE movie. I love that movie!

Since we're talking about Mr. Martin I have to tell this story about my dad. If any of you knew of him from Ensley football (Coach Rowe). He grew up in Bibb County, Ala.(4 hrs from here). In high school Mr.Martins dad (no kidding!) was one of my dads teachers. He and a friend got caught putting glue in his seat. When Mr.Martin went to paddle one of them the other grabbed a paddle and whipped Mr.Martin back. This went back and forth between the two and they got suspended.

In Mr. Clark's ??? shop class at ransom, remember we had to have those long drawn out safety talks to make sure noone would cut their arm off. I'm sure noone listened to most of his speech. It seemed like it took 15 mins of class just to go thru all of that. And if you ever messed with a drill or the drill press he would always come over by you to tell you to make sure you didn't unscrew it too far because the guts would explode everywhere, and if it exploded you would have to find every piece and get it put back together right. All of that so we could make some crappy napkin holders.

Some older not necessarily school memories. I remember seeing Star Wars the first time. Pretty sure that was at the theaters at University Mall. Remember before the show they used to have the floating bubbles thing on screen. That Christmas, I remember JC Penney had Darth Vader upstairs and the line to get pictures with him went all the way upstairs down to the first floor and all the way out the door on the Service Merchandise side. I remember waiting in line to get pictures for what seemed forever and then my parents got tired of waiting and made us go home (we got almost to the escalator, which they had turned off I think). Man was I disappointed that night. Also, I remember the movie theater that was behind Builder's Square (which I noticed they tore down Build Sq last time I was down - surprising - at the time it was a JM Fields store) used to have cheap summer tickets to see Flash Gordon serials and other movies. I was pretty young so only vaguely remember that but I still like some of those campy Flash Gordon older type movies to this day thanks to being introduced to it at such an early age. They would show these in the morning like on Wednesdays I think for maybe 8 or 12 weeks during the summer. I know there were other kids I knew from school that went too, totally don't recall who those kids were though. I remember seeing both ET and Raiders of the Lost Ark at that theater as well (the one behind Builder's Square) and for both of those movies the lines were super long - ET was out the theater door and all the way back to the road, Raiders was half that long or so. I remember going to one of Rollin's birthday parties and his parents took us to see Flash Gordon the 1980ish movie, man that movie was horrible. I want to say that was at University Mall as well.

More church ramblings... any of you from GUMC remember the big haunted house we used to put on? I remember we did it 2-3 times before we knocked down the old sunday school building then I don't remember doing it anymore. then I remember later that we always used to go to St Anne's and see their haunted house - do they still do that? Probably not, I remember that one was pretty good too. I remember the band played the roundup several times.

SHON -- I remember the band trips fairly well. Don't remember anything major happening on my bus though. I do remember the snow storm, being pulled over in the middle of the night, gagging from the smell of the toilet, stopping at that mall for ... dinner?, Don Sutton, the rodeo event, working our behinds off on the show only to have it stolen from us (but how exciting it was to perform in that HUGE stadium), practicing those crazy turns up and down Tate School Road, (I'm probably getting the Fiesta Bowl and the Rose Bowl Parades mixed up!), going to Knott's Berry Farms and Walt Disney Land (still haven't made it to Walt Disney World -- that's next year's vacation -- guess I'll have to buy Alex's book!). DARCIE -- I had forgotten you were in the flute line! I think we lost you, Lana Garrett and Robin Phelps after freshman year. STEPHANIE -- You remember me dropping my flute?! That was so embarrassing! MONIQUE -- I remember Mr. Simmons and the paddle. I always thought it was hysterical! I also remember he ate pieces of grapefruit for a snack, just like you would an orange (I'd never seen it eaten that way before!). And I LOVED the fish burgers and the milkshakes. They were the best! ANYONE remember Ms. Patterson for 8th grade English? Loved her. I remember she used to play those old records... and ASHLEY I loved teaching 5th grade (for 4 years). I think some people are cut out to be elementary school teachers and some aren't. Teaching highschool was .... a learning experience for me! Going back to 5th grade was great because the students were old enough to be able to act goofy in front of and their hormones weren't raging quite yet. They also still adore their teachers at that age -- for the most part. Both were a lot of work though! And that's impressive about the cds! I did some cutesy stuff, but nothing compared to that!

I also remember Mr. Rushing. I had him for third period. I went on to take drafting in tenth grade and two years at George Stone because of him. Does anyone remember 8th grade science teacher Mr. Twarkins? He didn't like me much cuz I always had to go to the bathroom (just to walk the halls) in his class. He caught on to me so in my yearbook he drew me a permanent bathroom pass.

ok guys, it you makes you feel any better about your middle school aged child, my friends tell me middle school is the best kept secret in education. They love the kids and they have told me that the students are so much fun because you can actually have a student/teacher friendship. one of my friends taught elem. with me, then went to to King Middle for a few years and is now at milton high. she keeps begging me to go to the high school and she says it is the best job around. all of my friends started out elem. and have moved up. they tell me everyday that I do not know what I am missing. And, my last day of spring break today I made scrapbooks out of CD's for each one of my students to give to their mothers for mother's day. I am getting too old for this cutesy, fun stuff. middle school does not have to do all that. It is a hard age for them, but with great teachers and great parents, they do fine. Julie, I am checking my email now to see if I got one from you. My email is gredash@bellsouth.net and granta@mail.santarosa.k12.fl.us

Does anyone remember Mr. Simmons- 6th grade Algebra at Ransom? I used to just tell him to go ahead and paddle me first thing, cause I knew I would get in trouble for talking. ( go figure) My name was all over that paddle. It's too bad the kids still don't get paddled. When I would sub I couldn't believe the way some of the kids would talk to the teachers. I loved it though. Oh! I also remember in Mr. Martin's Science class that my desk was right next to his cause I couldn't keep mt mouth shut in his class either. Yeah, those were the good ol' days. LOL What about Mr. Lutz? Was that hsi name> he would always do this hand thing and call you by your last name. Griffin, Grififn. I felt like I was in Ferris Beuller's Day Off.

No one has mentioned Mr. Garthwaite...the civics teacher. He was great! What about Ms. Davis the 10th grade Tate English teacher that said ok 100 times each class and called your pencil a graphite. Shon, I totally remember the cool guy thing was to have the complete set of NFL pencils. My favorite team was the Steelers. I do recall most of the pencil break tournaments outside those blasted portables. Mr. Williams was the assistant principle and yes he was a big dude. He also swung a mean paddle. I was on the receiving end of it one time and that was enough. His paddle was decorated and it had little holes punched through it to cut down on the wind resistance. I recall Mr. Leonard was the principle at RMS. I was working as an office assistant when he told me about Bear Bryant's death. I can also say that some of my fondest memories are from our youth group at GUMC. I remember those road trips to our retreats, get togethers at Lalla's house, and softball games. Funniest thing was Dr. Tim picking guitar to Hank Williams Jr. songs.

I remember having a love hate relationship with Mr K. I think I had him 3 different grades. The first two times I loved him, then I had him my senior year and hated him (I think it was Physics class). By the third time around I had heard every story he could think to tell at least six times and it just wasn't funny anymore like it may have been the first time around. The 2nd to last semester of my senior year we were in his class, and he was writing on the board. The two rows ahead of me were chatting, and my row wasn't. Mr K turned around and called me out and told me to stop with the chatter. I told him I wasn't talking. A small argument ensued over whether I was talking or not, and I was adamant I wasn't. I think Mead and Donald Milligan were my neighbors on my row and all the while they were telling me to shut up, that I was an idiot to challenge him. I had my principals though and knew I was right and wasn't going to back down. Well, he ended up assigning me sentences to write - 1,000 I beleive. I told him thanks but I wouldn't be turning in any sentences today because he was wrong and I was right. Well, it escalated and I got a free trip to the dean. Someone mentioned girls were favored in his class. I remember that was very much be the case, in fact I don't remember who it was but I remember someone sticking their hand up and asking why he favored girls gradewise over the guys. He took alot of offense to that.

Darcie, is it ok if I giggled a bit about you having "street smarts"?~~~ Seriously people, especially those who have or have had middle schoolers, don't you think Middle School is a cess pool of hormones and academically a waste of time?? My oldest is in 4th grade, and Middle School is already haunting me. I'm trying to make a decision on whether to send her to a private all-girls Middle School we have in Richmond right this very minute (because it starts in 5th grade). From what I've heard, (Yes, I've interviewed EVERYONE on this subject...including Family Counselors in my Sunday School class), that it's a documented scientific fact that young girls self esteem plummets in 6th grade. Course, there's the "street smart" argument that is actually valid. At some point, all of our children are going to hit the real world, right? But oh, how strong that urge to shelter!! ~~~~ Cliff Calendar got a paddling?!?! children look at me like I've absolutely lost my mind when I tell them about Corporal punishment in schools! It really does make me feel old that I remember "The days of paddling in school" That...typewriters, phones with cords...and not religiously applying sunscreen under your make up every day.

I know a lot of us played either football or baseball (or both) out at Cantonment. a lot of the girls cheered out there. I've got no pride so I will share this I guess. I played four years for two different teams down there and remember having a pretty good time doing it. The first team I was on was Page's Auto Shop. Chuck Page's Dad sponsored that team, they had orange and white uniforms (I think my Mom still has the little hat somewhere in a closet - she keeps everything). The next 3 years I was on a team called American Sports Shop, which was located on Creighton Road toward where the Wal-Mart is now but on the other side of the road. The abbreviation they put on our hat was AS but everyone can see what the real abbreviation is. I remember as a kid catching a lot of grief on the initials, you know how kids are. Some of the kids on our team at one point told the owner his shop name was stupid and he should rename it, he didn't appreciate that much I remember. I don't remember the teams I was on being particularly that good, more like the bad news bears, but what can you expect we were kids.

A few teachers I haven't seen mentioned or only lightly mentioned ..... anyone at Ransom remember Mr Rushing, the drafting teacher? He was bald on top with white hair on the sides. He was all business, no horsing around in his class but was a great guy. Or anyone remember Mr Twarkins, the science teacher? I seem to remember we would play games of some sort in his class. He nicknamed one of us (not me) Jimmy the Greek, though I can no longer remember who or why, I just have that memory. Anyone remember the 7th grade science teacher Mr Helton? He was in the front corner of the Tate building, pretty nice guy as well. I remember Mrs. Giles was an English teacher, forget what grade, she was kind of prim and proper. Also, Mrs. Brown was one of the math teachers out in the portables. The coaches were Coach Jones and as a couple have mentioned Coach Ronnie Boyd as I recall. Coach Jones was all business and not so fun to have, and Coach Boyd was really cool to have. Was Mr Williams (was his name Malachi???) the asst principal??? I remember he was a big guy. The was an English teacher we had there who had an English or northeastern accent. I think around 6th grade, her name escapes me but she was really one of the nicest teachers I remember. Someone mentioned square dancing in PE, I remember doing that at McArthur. Surprised noone at Ransom has horror stories of Mrs Godwin, I don't remember specific situations about why I had issues with her except I left Ransom really disliking her. Maybe she just had it in for me.

ok, a plug for Santa Rosa county school system, since i do get a paycheck from them each month. Sims middle school is tops. All of my closest girlfriends teach there and they have great things to say about all of the students. my goal is to eventually transfer there one day. i understand about king because I was in that feeder pattern for 12 years so I taught those babies before they made it to middle school. I can say from experience, Pace schools are top notch. speaking of being paddled, I was paddled in 7th grade for chewing gum! How ridiculous. I LET my first graders chew gum now! I like to chew gum and I can not very well do it front of them without letting them do it too. And, Jeff Castleberry........David ran into him about 5 or 6 years ago. David works for Gulf Power and was running wire in a new neighborhood and Jeff was roofing houses.

Ifigured I would join in on the ramblings. Anyone remember Coach Boyd at RMS? He was the coolest PE coach. How about Mrs Webb for Civics? Her grandson Reese (Ben and Rachel's son) is my daughter"s boyfriend. How about Mrs. Wills sending Cliff Callender and me to the deans office for being constantly late. I think those 2 swipes of Dean Roger's paddle were the only ones Cliff ever recieved in school. As to the skip day for Volleyball at Alex's, lots of fun. Unfortunately Mike Workman and myelf were in the small and punished group of permission slip forgers. OOPS! Lots of band memories--Does anyone remember the bus hitting the skunk on the way to the Grand Canyon on the Fiesta Bowl Trip? Truly a bad experience. I also remember the long practices walking up and down Tate Rd. in preparation for the Rose Parade. Shon--I dont know how you are remembering all this stuff, but keep it up.

Craig - yes on the drunk dog. Not only did "someone" (still unidentified) get the dog drunk (incidentally his name was Bourbon), but someone also gave him a whole bag of peanut m&ms the same night. Not a pretty picture... After all these years, I would like to know who sneaked him a few! We have a great party room in our basement like my parents had. But I am way too smart to let my kids down there unsupervised! Of course, you guys probably remember my mom kept popping downstairs during parties to "refill the snack bowls".

BETH & ASHLEY - just to comment on the Ferry Pass Middle School issue... I was shoved INTO A LOCKER and the door was shut on me the first week of 6th grade! Mom contemplated putting me in a private school at that point. But thank goodness she didn't because I learned all kinds of "street smarts" at that school :). Also - SHON- I was in the band when I was a freshman -flute- and all I do remember the long trip to Phoenix and all of the Oranges that we had on our bus. They may or may not have had some "additives".... It has been so fun to read everyone's comments!

Middle School: Mike Emmons, Travis Fryman, Jamie Fromm and I went to Brentwood Middle. We had a ball! Loved it! I think it is somewhat rough now from what I've heard. Yo Ledbetter-Do you still have DJ Jazzy Jeff and The Fresh Prince [loddy doddy-song]? How about all of that RUN DMC? Where is Kurt Goldhill? Did we find Tim Bishop?

Ashley... OK... what is up with these men and hunting? Thomas is a hunter and I have never understood the whole concept. And... I'm glad your 10 year letter was wrong, because we have already discussed the teacher thing. Doug... thanks for the info about Mr. Sanderson. I did not know that. Donna... you are correct about the Brewton 'natives' being very particular about the 'from' or 'live' there thing, but it does not hurt my feelings at all not to be from there. I tell the 'natives' I am much smarter then to be 'from' there anyway. Beth... Please tell me that they have torn down Ferry Pass. That place was a dump when we were there. I cannot imagine it could have gotten better. And btw... I was not thrown to the wolves in the 6th grade. Somehow I was place in Mrs. Wolfe's class (do you remember her hair?) which was a 'self-contained' class. The only good thing about that was I remember some cute boys were in there. Shon... I am really impressed with your memory. And that you think Chumuckla is worse then Brewton. And Greg Mason... there was no such radar that you flew under during high school my friend.

I feel for you former Ferry Pass Middle Students. My son is in 8th grade there now and I have Hated every minute of the past 3 years. I personally feel that it middle school now is just a waste land between elementary and high school. He has a couple of teachers that have actually been a positive influence to him but for the most part we have been really disappointed. Our other choice was Workman so I guess it was a toss up.

I think I have you guys beat on the middle school thing. I went to Wedgewood, along with Todd Cravatt. most people do not even know where that is. Today it is in "crack alley". you can not imagine what middle school was like and how many of our teachers and classmates are now "doing time"! The AP is in prison for killing his wife. don't you know, we got a fabulous education. I dont; think we had too many Tate people with us.

Anyone from the band remember the trip to the Fiesta Bowl in 1984 where one of the buses broke down (Slayton's I think)? We got stuck in a snowstorm in Texas and had to stop and we had snowball fights? Later when we got going again the buses got stopped in the middle of the night by the police (not sure why) but since everyone was asleep they let us go. We went to a Burger King and someone (on our bus I think) tried to steal about 20 trays from there and Slayton ripped them for it. I only remember those things not the details, anyone remember more than that???? Also, remember the school that won was Clovis HS from California and everyone was hacked because they had been practicing for 2 or 3 years on their routine and we placed 2nd and had only been practicing ours for 5 months? I remember a lot of people were mad about that.

DINO- glad to say my kids have grown up a little...no more tears from the train. But they do grab the ear muffs! That thing is literally in my parents yard! But they stand and wave now as the train goes by. Those IP benefits were nice; ear muffs, scott wipes, plastic garbage bags, big rolls of white paper, etc... SHON- Coach Putnam is alive and well. Still coaching baseball. We had a 20th reunion last Jan for the 86 state champs baseball team and he came along with Coach Putnam and just about the entire team, with all the batgirls of course. We had a great time catching up and remembering old times.

LALLA - ROFL, I almost mentioned the Atari thing at your parents and figured I had said enough last night and was leaving it for later. I think Deni obliterated us that night if I recall. STEPHANIE - man, you remembered more than i did about that class. Looking back that was the most productive time I spent in school, because Mr Ives wasn't about the nitpicky English stuff (like diagramming sentences). I forgot about the ties too, he always had something odd on. Also, didn't we have a tacky tie contest at some point for some wacky prize? I remember you and Cindy were inseparable. DONNA - I remember those shirts - didn't they make the yearbook? ASHLEY - The Dillards parents are close friends of my parents. They still go to dinner on occassion. Last time I talked to Doug he was doing well and in IT with Esc Co Schools, but that was 10+ years ago. I forget what Jimmy was doing. Their Dad was the announcer for the band at halftime and if memory serves he also did some of the play by play in the booth for the football games. He is now a funeral director at Faith Chapel North (that is the newer one on Hwy 29 in Cantonment, right?). In fact he did my grandfather's funeral a couple of years ago. Oh, and Chumuckla is much worse than Brewton lol..............More on Mr Lutz/Mr Smith. I remember they were close buddies and would share a flask sometimes. Also, Mr Smith one time came to our portable and got on his megaphone and yelled for Mr Lutz to come outside he needed to talk to him .. what a whack job........Anyone remember Coach Randy Putnam (or Putman)? Nice guy but he would make you run crabs all class if you mouthed him or didn't give your all. What ever happened to him?

Lalla -- ROFL .. I actually was going to mention the Atari thing we had at your parent's house but decided I had written too much last night. We had a huge Space Invaders battle as I recall. I might misremember but I think Deni wiped us all off the map that night. And I do remember Bro. Barry's comment about the TV -- too funny. DeeDee -- didn't your father or grandfather pastor at GUMC at one point, or am I misremembering something my parents/grandmother told me at one time (perhaps it was another church)???

I too had Mrs. V for 12th grade english. I loved her. i thought she was one of the best teachers i ever had. i remember getting the 10 year letter as well. i just knew at 18 exactly how my life was going to be planned out. I knew just who I would marry and what my job would be (so I thought). I am so thankful God did not let me live out MY plans. HIS plans were so much better. in my 10 year letter, i thought my job would be staying home taking care of my children, because that is what my mother did. i think i like that option better than getting up early every day and going to work.

Stephanie, I forgot about having home economics together but do remember the surf board pillows , took me almost all year. I seen Robbie Rudd last summer at the Fish House with his band,(excellent bass player)still playing the music scene far as i know. That was the same night i met Kenny Loggins there, they say he was in town to see his girlfriend from pensacola? We try to play whatever we can get, private partys ,weddings, backyard BBQ, played some of the Blues on the Beach in 04 and 05 but not any last year. Our latest gig is at a new car lot(like i said we play just about anywhere) in carcity called Ticket to Drive, suppose to play this sat. 3/17 from 12-4 . So if you see an infomercial on Blab tv with a band playing that should be us.(hope we sound good!!!) I'll tell Dave to sign on. David married a cousin of Kim Brown.Tracy ,your Dad did talk alot about his grandkids, he was sure proud of them. The only thing he complained about was when he was out in the yard with them the train would go by and lay on the horn and make them cry. I liked working with your dad, he was a good guy.Take care.

YEAH. Ferry Pass Middle. If Lalla weren't the WEBmasta, and I thought I'd get away with it, I'd cuss about that school. I'm talking the HE-double L! BIG TIME cussing!!! Let's not forget that a small, tender number of us left the comfort of the known and were shipped out to Ferry Pass. Am I the only one who wandered that school in 6th grade stunned and afraid?? Shon and Donna. Mrs. McGhee!!!!! Was Travis Fryman really in that class? I know Mike Workman was. We "went together" for almost 24 hours that year. Mrs. McGhee was amazing for me. She believed in me, darnit! She thought I was SMART and CAPABLE. Course, then Ferry Pass hit... and I wandered the halls blubbering nonsense once again.

Susan, I am about as close to Brewton as you can get without living in AL. We live in Chumuckla, almost to Jay. Know what you mean about small town life. I must say, I fought it kicking and screaming. I am such a neighborhood girl and like to be close to everything. Those of you who know David, know "that ain't so" with him. I do love where we live and the kids love it too. Nice thing about school is they go with me and when they move on, all my friends teach at the middle school and I have "spys' at the high school. shon, i can so relate to your wife. David keeps threatening to move me out further. I told him I would gladly go to B'ham because they have great shopping. He said, he was thinking more like Selma! I think i will just stay put! He just wants to be where BIG DEER roam. I just don;t get it. How many deer does one person need to kill................guess he could say, how many shoes does one person need to own. Couple more things then I am off to work in the yard tonight. I don't recall anyone from Ransom mentioning Mrs Godwin. She was the wife of the principal of Tate before Mr Leonard became Tate's principal. I beleive she taught Algebra in 8th grade, was very prim and proper, and was about the meanest teacher I ever remember having in any grade of school. Glenn - I remember in 6th grade you and I played a lot of paper football (both the triangle and the paper kind). We had an awful math teacher in a portable by the Ransom track (I beleive she was African American?? ring any bells?) and she was always getting on to us for playing football. Also, we brought our Coleco handheld football games to school, got in lots of trouble at times for it too. Were you an Oilers or Eagles fan? Don't hang me if you aren't :) I remember someone I played alot was an Oilers fan but it escapes me who it was. And remember there was some kid at Ransom that always was selling NFL pencils? The big thing was to try to buy all of the different teams from that kid - anyone remember that? Then we would play pencil break in the halls and hope the principal or a teacher didn't catch us. Last thing, I promise - I always remembered Mr Buck at Ransom had a nameplate on his desk that said The Buck Stops Here, which I thought was the corniest thing I ever saw.

People were mentioning where they were when Challenger crashed. I remember I learned it from a tuba player named Daniel Grove (steve russ was that the guys name?) I beleive during band practice around lunchtime. When he told us, noone believed him. Somehow he or someone else convinced the instructor (surely it was Mr. Bertles or that real skinny leader we had, not Slayton) to turn on the TV and it unfolded before us. I distinctly remember hearing about Elvis on a school bus home at Jim Allen, but I wonder if we as kids didn't just talk about it alot on the bus as I don't think school was in session when he died. Here's another one - where were you when Reagan was shot? I was on a school bus home with around the last 5-6 people left, the bus driver had to pull over to get herself together. She thought he had been killed. Not sure who else was on there with me. We stopped at the Tom Thumb at Kingsfield and New Chemstrand if I recall. Anyone remember where they were when Lynyrd Skynyrd's plane crashed? I don't specifically remember where I was when i heard it, but I remember talking about it a ton in school. Anyone remember the first time they ate at Smokey's BBQ (my favorite place to eat)? Craig Lowery (anyone remember him - he lived down the street from me and had a pet chow) introduced me to the finest BBQ in Pcola in 2nd grade. I owe the guy a lot for that. Every time I come to Pcola I have to go there at least 2-3 times. :) Anyone remember Mr Bertles - kinda reminded me of a penguin. Who was the skinny short band leader, that had the bulging veins in his head? I know one of the band people will remember. What happened to either of those guys? I'll shaddap now

I know this is a little off topic, but a bunch of us went to Gonzalez United Methodist Church together, attended most of our childhood. I remember Glenn, Tamron, Lalla, Susan T, Deni, Todd B, Scott T, Sharon L, and I know I am forgetting people so forgive me. Anyway, any of you remember early 80's, we had a pastor that regularly went past noon with his sermon, and one of the Sunday School classes bought him a new fangled digital watch. They knew he had zero technical ability, and set the watch for exactly noon. Well, he went over with his sermon, the watch alarm went off, and he couldn't get the watch to stop. He was flabbergasted and couldn't finish his sermon. It was almost scandolous in our quiet little church. I remember my grandmother was beside herself with embarrassment (as well as mad) but the younger people thought it was hilarious. Any of you remember that? I think Susan Boren????? instigated that. Sorry to digress for those not involved. I'll probably burn for remembering that one :)

Speaking of RMS PE Teachers-My daughter had a student teacher in her class two years ago and it was Mrs. Robinsons daughter (remember Mrs. Robinson was pregnant our sixth grade year) that made me feel really old because I remembered when she was born and now she is old enough to be a teacher. I am really surprised to NOT see my name pop up more than it has. I must've flown furtther under the radar than I thought. Then again there's only one or two that know more than I would ever tell. I gues all that blackmail money is finally paying off.

Stephanie--Mr. Ive's was the best. He had a unique way of making us think about things differently than we might otherwise. Remember the time he offered 10 bounus points for a test if we could name three items on his grocery list and nobody in the class got the points because everyone listed the normal milk, eggs, etc. Remember the letter we wrote to ourselves our senior year and it was all about what our lives would be like in ten years. I wonder how many people got that right. I have pictures of the gumby on the ceiling and I also have the newpaper article where Mr. Ives was featured for his ugly ties, you were in the picture. Remember everyone would bring ties in to add to his collection. If memory serves correctly, you brought in some fuzzy thing. Does anybody know if he is still around? I also have a lot of pictures from the band trip to California, I don't think I have any of the beauty contest though.

Shon- wow! what a memory you have! I do remember the fire at Jim Allen. In fact, having to walk by the hallway that burnt every day sent me into a 7 year period of bad nightmares about fires!!!! I even had to go to the elementary counselor, Mr. Hall?, due to sleep deprivation! He tried to "fix me" so I could sleep throught the night without nightmares. It didn't work! The only thing that worked was growing up a little, I guess. Because I finally just stopped having them. It was about the time we had that fire at Tate so I just didn't go that way!! It's a good thing I wasn't in band, huh? Does anyone remember Paige Bass from Jim Allen? She moved away in the third grade. She and I were best friends and we actually still keep in touch. She was in my wedding and I was supposed to be in hers but due to losing a baby 3 days before her ceremony I was unable to travel. OK, no more bad stuff about me! Didn't mean to be depressing. Life happens!

My best friend here (my scrapbooking buddy!) and her hubby are both pediatricians and they tell me about some of the things they have to deal with .. no way I could do it! One of my other good friends is a vet and I couldn't do her job either. I have no idea how I had 3 babies.. I hate needles and blood!

I also remember that crazy turn we had to practice and practice for on the parade route. When I watch the parade now I am watching to see if the other marching bands do it correctly!

Ashley... I was sincere about the teacher thing. there is no way I could be a teacher. My hat goes off to you and all teachers. Enjoy your Spring Break. And the nurse thing is not so bad. I really love all the 'blood and guts' stuff... of coarse... only because in the end... we help people get better. Shon... I am really impressed with your memory!!! I cannot say mine is like that. About Brewton... I 'live' in Brewton... I'm not 'from' Brewton... there is a big difference with that around here. There are days I feel lucky to have electricity, but there are days I look at my children and I realize a small town like Brewton is for them. It is rough not to be able to run up the road to Target or the mall, but we don't have the drugs and the pressures like kids do in bigger towns and that is worth the 'small town' sacrifice. And finally... I have a teacher I remember... Does anyone know what happened to Mr. Sanderson? I think he was the 11th grade counselor?

Who had Mrs. V for English? She was the BOMB i think of all my classes through all the grades I enjoyed her class the most. She was always kind and would help you no matter what. I remember doing the "Where you will be in 10 years" letter. She actually mailed them out to us 10 years later. It was freaky what we all thought we would be doing in 10 years. It brought back so many memories.

Mark, I remember that day and one other one at Washington. Maybe it was the same day. Rollin and I were talking about it just the other day. It was a playoff to see who would win the district. We lost by 1 and Skip scored an own-goal on his brother Craig, our goalie. That sucked. Also, I think Craig was my partner at Alex's Volleyball days. My memory is awful and I am blanking on their last name.

Good memory Shon! I remembered "Uncle Willie's Troopers" -- how much fun! Melanie, Krista, Rhonda and I (I think it was the 4 of us) had sweatshirts made that said "Uncle Willie's Troopers" on it! I'll have to dig up the picture. I remember hop scotch in middle school, Tracy L. singing and Victoria H. playing the piano for the talent show -- Tracy sang "My Father's Eyes". And David Dunn sang "Just a Swingin' " and played his guitar (don't know the name of the song...) I remember picking up coke cups and writing our names on them and I won the prize of ... $25? I loved Mr. Buck, the band teacher -- think that was when "Leader of the Band" by Dan Fogelberg (?) came out. -------------------------As for high school... I was so sad when Slayton left (after band camp at the beginning of our senior year). I remember marching in the Fiesta Bowl parade and the Rose Bowl paraded -- VERY embarrasing when we had finished playing a song and I snapped my flute down. The bottom piece of my flute flew off (in the middle of the parade -- mind you!). Fortunate for me the flutes were at the back of the line because I had to scurry around to find it!!! And I remember how exhilirating (sp?) it was to play some of the songs in the band hall before we would head out to the football game -- to this day I think that is why I have hearing problems! And the smell of diesel fuel brings back the memory of loading the busses to go to a parade or band competition! OK, enough reminiscing -- I've got a kitchen to clean up!

Shon, There were a few of us that had Mr. Ives for 10th grade English. I remember David Dunn singing all the time. Cindy Linton you were in there too! I think that was one of only a couple of classes we actually had together during high school. Do you remember the "hall lizards"? That's what Mr Ives called the students that were walking around in the hallways when classes were going on and they would peek in the door window to see who was in class. Mr. Ives would go to the door, have them come in and answer really weird questions or take a group picture of the class! We had him again senior year and I remember we made a rather large Gumby for the ceiling! I remember all of the practicing, marching up and down Tate Road so we could get used to the 5 miles that the parade route was. My mother just gave me a bunch of pictures from the Tournament of Roses Parade Trip. Not sure if they should be posted or not. On the bus we were on we had a beauty pageant with the guys dressed like girls!

RANSOM P.E. TEACHERS- Mrs. Davis and Ms. Robinson; Mrs. Davis has been at Pine Meadow for years and my children have enjoyed her. However, this fall her husband fought a sudden, severe battle with cancer and passed away either late Nov or sometime in Dec. I don't remember exactly when. She has done a ton for Pine Meadow and one of her biggest things has been "Jump Rope for Heart." For several years, Pine Meadow has collected more $ through "Jump Rope for Heart" than any school in the county and that's largely been because of Mrs. Davis. Her co-teacher, Jennifer Sewell was a great promoter of this also. SHON CONGLETON- My gosh you have an incredible memory! It was a lot of fun reading all of that!

Anyone with the band that went to the Tournament of Roses parade remember the morning Don Sutton (a 1963 Tate grad) of the then Los Angeles Angels coming by, giving us hats (I think he gave them to us - maybe we bought the hats beforehand??) and signing autographs for everyone? He stayed around to talk to everyone. He was one of the nicest people to talk to and I always thought a lot of him for coming over and spending time with us.

Random Memories: From Jim Allen - anyone remember a wing of the school burning down? I was in 1st grade. It created a mess for them to rebuild the next two years. Also, anyone have Rollin Etheredge's mom for math in 3rd grade? I remember Walter Matthews being in there, maybe Pat Palmer, can't remember if Rollin was in there. I had Mrs Gainey for kindergarten, next to Mrs Colo, I think she just retired. Also, my 1st grade teacher fell and broke her hip and I think had to retire. She was Kevin (co 88 I think) and Kelly Perkins (co 85 or 86) Grandmother I beleive, we got Miss Crisler after that, my Mom still runs into her to this day. I think she still teaches but got married so no longer Crisler. McArthur Elementary - I remember in 4th or 5th grade I was in a class with Travis Fryman (maybe Mrs McGhee's), and the teacher was reading a story, and Travis was reading some other book. The teacher asked Travis to put the book down, don't remember what he said but basically it was something like why, I know what you are reading. She said well why don't you tell the class? He then proceeded to tell us everything about what she had read then what he was reading. She then let him go back to his book :) Ransom Middle: I remember Scott Rhodes was the horseshoes king, he was always playing (and winning) at lunch. Anyone remember playing ping pong in the portables for PE? I remember we would go to the library to check out books and I always seemed to go with Jeff Castleberry. Every time we went he had to go find all of the Surf magazines. I still to this day do not know why Ransom had a subscription to Surf magazine. I remember when Bear Bryant died. They preempted all of the TV shows for the funeral procession and we watched it. My Dad was sadder than I ever remember him that day. Today people never beleive me when I tell them they preempted TV for his funeral. Mr Lutz on the first day made us sit in alpha order. Then he numbered us. I remember to this day my number was 8. When he said your number, you said your last name. When he said your last name, you said your number. Failure to do so got you a ride on "Rompin Charlie" (his name for Dean Charlie ... I forget the last name, was it Terrell???). Also, you had to stay in the same assigned seat all year, or ride rompin charlie. Remember Mr K telling us he didn't have a steering wheel, he drove his truck with a pair of vice grips connected to the steering column - and he was serious? One day Mrs Goff subbed for Mr K. Everyone got together during class, and we all knew she had probs hearing, so we said 15 mins before the bell, everyone get up in concert, act like the bell rang and leave. We did it, she played along, looked at the clock figured out the gag and tried to get us back in the room. I think most of us escaped though, but she was maddddd. Someone mentioned their parents had Mrs Goff. My Dad had Mrs Goff and he graduated Tate in 1963. He said she was old then and he couldn't beleive she was still teaching us kids. Also my Dad graduated with Mr and Mrs Creighton, and at least 1 other teacher at Tate whose name escapes me now. I know there were several tearchers that were there that were graduates of Tate. Anyone remember Mr Creighton's Isuzu Trooper 2 club (ie summer school)? He would put names of the most eligible students on the board every day. Also, I remember on more than one occassion him telling us that anyone rolling his house would get two barrels of rock salt in the trunk of their car so he could come find them when they returned to school - or if it was their parents car you would have some explaining to do. Remember the building by the band building that burned down in 9th grade? I forget the name, was a big deal though. Anyone have Gary Ives in 10th grade (his 1st year there) for English and remember going outside everyday to read Lord of the Flies? I think we read Call of the Wild or White Fang as well. He was in the Pierce building that year, on the side that faced the road. He was my favorite teacher by far. Mrs Fischer had the twinkie mobile Anyone remember Mr Korn the computer teacher? He was so weird. I don't remember learning much from him. Anyone remember Sun Britches? Mr Varner played guitar, he took us outside sometimes and would play his guitar for us, seems like he invited us to a concert at some point. Any band member remember this ditty: We're Uncle Willie's Troopers We're marching in the night We learn our music theory By marching??? in the light Hidey Hidey Gosh Almighty Who the Hell are we We're Uncle Wille's Troopers And not the Infantry! Oh man, I can't beleive I remembered that whole thing (Uncle Wille was Bill Slayton, the band director, for those who don't know what the heck I am talking about - he is now in upper management with the Escambia School district, I am sure some of you work for him now :) ). Susan T, I lived in Brewton about 15 years ago for 3 years. My wife told me if I ever took her back there should would smother me in my sleep. Hope you are liking it better than she did, I actually kind of liked the place. Sorry, way too much typing. I am way behind you guys so had to catch up. Good to see all of the memories.

OK – Sorry ladies, all of my scrap-booking stories are probably too dirty to share on a public forum such as this. LOL  This one is for the guys that played soccer their senior year. My least favorite day in high school had to be the day we played Washington High School for the 2nd time of the season. A win or a tie would ensure we won the district title. They didn’t have district tournaments for soccer at the time. It was the 2nd half, and we were all tied. -I can’t remember if it was near the end of the 2nd half or not- The Wildcats made a long pass toward goal. The Washington forward and Bobby Kreiner were running side-by-side and the Washington player took a dive in the penalty box. I was right behind them. Bobby didn’t even touch the guy. After that game, we became unstoppable. I think we would have done well in a post-season tournament. What a cheap shot.

Shelly, Is Mrs. Thrash the accounting teacher you were referring to? I was trying to remember the smelly room teacher's name, I had her for class and homeroom. Linda-Mrs. Mixon was the one in the wheel chair and it did smell in her room, but she was always sweet. I think it was Kristen Schroeder that had girl scout cookies and we would eat them during class... we would eat about the whole box! Mr. Garthwaite's youngest daughter was hit and killed by a car at the end of their driveway, but they have 2 more that they adopted since then. Mrs. Garthwaite was principal at Barrineau Park some while I taught Kindergarten...she is REALLY SWEET too! Lalla-I'm glad I brought back another memory! Thanks for all your hard work!

Linda - Mrs. Mixon was the teacher at Ransom with the smelly classroom. It was smelly because she had something wrong with her foot that looked and smelled like it was rotting off. I think I even had her after lunch. YUCK!!! I don't remember a lot from high school. I had a class with several of you, I think maybe an English class. It was 2nd period and I would have to leave class early on pep rally days. Whoever that teacher was, she hated me for getting to leave her class early. Does this ring a bell for anyone? I remember the turkey filet sandwiches from the cafeteria. They were the bomb! Was Mrs. Stallworth the typing teacher? I liked her. And I can't believe that I don't remember the accounting teacher's name. I decided after just a few weeks of taking the class that I wanted to be an accountant.

Linda, Ms. Mixon had the smelly foot at Ransom. She was 6th grade history. As for the male teacher in 5th grade, Mr. Stitcher, his class picture is posted in the early years section. Check it out. I've tried to get in touch with Tonya W's mom to let her know about the reunion but she has not returned 2 of my phone calls. So she may not want to be found???? One of my most vivid memories of Ransom is how very long 6th grade seemed to last!!!! I didn't think it would ever end. Eric and Alex, I got Shel....Bring it! Oh, that felt good to say, but really, I'm just kidding! Too old, too tired and I really just don't care anymore about diving into the hard ground to scoop up a Vball. The ground is so much harder than it was 15 years ago. My daughter likes to go skating and I fell over another child and landed on my whole body. It took me weeks to recover!!!! And darn it, there wasn't even visible bruising to make my story better. It was actually quite pitiful. But thanks anyway. Ya'll can be the champs just cause! This year is even the first year I haven't played softball since I was 12 without the excuse of being pregnant. I guess I'm growing up....or is that called getting old? Don't answer that.

Kim B- I remember Mr. Martin from Ransom.. couldn't stand him either! I had the lady in the wheelchair (for history I think) she had the smelly classroom? I can't recall her name. I had Mrs. Terry for health- I liked her. Mr. Harrell was my yearbook staff supervisor and marketing and journalism teacher.. liked him ok too. Loved Mr. Garthwaite.. didn't he lose a daughter in a car accident several years ago? I moved to Pensacola from Boulder, Colorado in my 5th grade year and went to Jim Allen. I had a man teacher and can't recall his name either (mommy brain I guess!). Tonya Wheeler was one of the first friends I made there. At Tate I have the lucky pleasure of remembering MRS. DAVIS! I learned 2 new words from her: graphite, as some of you have pointed out, and siblings. I had the honor of having her for 1st period & homeroom. Between them she would always brush her hair. She also made us watch a slide show of her trip to England I think. My sister said she used to tell her class that they were in the "me want wa wa stage". I don't know if she said that to us! Mr. Ives was the bestest teacher, loved journal writing & listening to "Hotel of California" in his class, Mrs. Fischer squirting the water bottle for her overhead projector at us for not paying attention or the intercom for interrupting!, wonderful Mrs. Lael, being one of the few to love disecting cats (except the awful smell) and one who got white as a ghost in Mr. Varner's class during the famous childbirth movie, Mrs. Harper was the best art teacher( I stayed in there all the time & missed out on a lot!), the stinky lunchroom, my wonderful locker buddy, Mrs. Reinshmidt's ticks, and I guess I've talked a bit too much, but hope it brings out a smile or two! Hope all of you are well (you all look happy & great!)

Here are some memories starting at the BEGINNING of school. Maybe some will spark memories in you too. The twisty slide at the old Pensacola Christian(the only perk of going there), snowing when we were in 2nd grade & getting to go home early, getting the favorite job of loading the old timey movie projector, Mrs. Long playing the ukelelee? in music, the smell of Pine Meadow...it still smells the same!, at Ransom: hated Mr. Martin, always thought Mr. Clark in shop was calling his helpers gophers like the animal and now know he was talking about "go for" this or that!, loved Mrs. Giles, Mr. Simmons always threatening the boys with his paddle!, loved Mr. Garthwaite, Mr. Therriault, and Mrs. Wells (remember how she decorated the room as if we were in the Diary of Anne Frank...what a great teacher!).

We probably could have taken you guys if Sunjay had a better partner. HaHa - I knew there was something funny about the parental consent letters. Didn't they make us go to the first two classes, or show up for homeroom? Thanks Alex, for reminding me of Chad's permission slip from his mom. I remember how funny that was in Mr. Andrew's class. That cracks me up!!! I also remember you guys practicing. Alex started bringing a volleyball to class, and you guys would practice setting the ball in the hallway. Awesome pictures of the volleyball tournament Eric.

Yes, those volleyball days were great. I've even got video, much of it narrated (intentionally or inadvertantly) by Mark. The day Mark's referring to was actually the third, though. In January, we played on the Martin Luther King, Jr. holiday. In February it was President's Day. In March, there wasn't a holiday available, so we picked Rashid's birthday (the 16th). My mom, though, actually required everybody to bring a note from their parents saying it was okay with them for their kid to skip school at our house. I remember the next day in Mr. Andrews' Calc class, where he'd been missing a third of his students the day before. He took all of the notes from everybody and read them out loud to the whole room. Everybody chuckled. When he got to Chad Lovelace, who had a note from his mom that said he was at a "Leisure Seminar," he looked up and said to Chad, "So, yours is the only one that's true, isn't it?" THAT was funny. And no, Mark, it wasn't even close. Ha, ha, ha, ha, ha......

Hey guys! I hope you all are doing well! Like Heather, I too am happy to see all of the pictures of everyone and to 'hear' you guys chatting. JULIE- ok-most of our goings on will have to be discussed in person, but how about that 4th of July sailing romp we had the year before I got married? How fun was that??? Boy, those fish in the Gulf weren't the same after that! :) AND how much fun did we have being in Lee's wedding and the shin dig at the yacht club??? Boy I'm missing the beach! I hope you come down because I haven't seen you in forever! I'll think about you at McGuire's Saturday! Someone mentioned Chandler Mock-How is he? What about Galin? They were such cool, neat guys. Anyway, hope you all have a Happy St. Pat's Day and may all of your charms be LUCKY! Amy and Tracy-Found the pink and aqua MAGIC SLIPPERS! I should so have them cleaned and flower arrangements or something funny put in them for the reunion. Sharon-YUP! We tipped the heck out of that canoe and sank it. One of the wonders of the world...HOW did we do that? We were probably rockin' out to RATT and got too rowdy. Whatcha think? Oh, and how about that Destin Spring Break with LSU? [No more will be mentioned on that subject:)]

OK, I've been out of town and it has taken about 15 minutes to catch up... Lalla, I had Mrs. Barlow for K5 right across the hall from Ms. Kolo. Carla, I worked at Cordova Cinemas in 11th grade from about October to March. It started interferring with the baseball traveling schedule and as the dedicated batgirl that I was I couldn't miss going out of town on the tournaments so I had to quit. It was a very short lived career. But not as short as Baskin Robbins. I gained 10 pounds in 2 weeks!!!! So I had to quit that one, too. But that was for my health!!!! I could make a killer sundae!

Okay...it took Mark Southard talking about volleyball to get me chatting in the Guest Book. I absolutely agree that skipping school (WITH parental consent) and playing an all-day volleyball tournament at Alex's house was one of my best experiences of high school--competition, camaraderie, and great music (that was the first time I heard the Waterboys; I loved them even more when the went Irish folk-rock). But I take exception to you not being sure if Alex and I won the tournament...we killed you guys. But it was an ambush waiting to happen though. Who do you think built the court in Alex's yard? Who do you think wore out the grass around the net? We had been practicing for weeks. Check out the High School Days - part 2 Photos for some action shots and the final result! Great to hear from you Mark. You're kid is adorable.

She has totally taken over so THAT is why I have spare time to get on this website and check out the latest news. you know I have to check it at school because when i get home, I hear "Get off that DANG computer". David and Reid have gone turkey hunting for the weekend so here i sit, after an evening of Target, Hobby Lobby, Michael's and dinner! sounds like fun, huh! Had to stock up on some more scrapbooking stuff. Jennifer Jones, did i see you tonight in Target. i think i recognize you from the website. email me again Julie.

Hi all again... I am in Denver and doing very well. Life is good! I can't read all the stories because I do work for a living...HAHA!! But I have browsed them and Nancy...I remember your shorts and socks. :-) I remember all the teachers too and Ashley I emailed you directly, but you are clearly spending all your time on this website and not checking your personal email. I was asking Glenn and Criag about the English Teacher and you came up w/her name. Mrs. Venatozzi...loved her. Ester was a favorite although I could get away w/nothing...she was my mother's second pair of eyes...well her and Todd Boyd, but thank God for both...they kept me on the straight and narrow...for the most part anyway. Speaking of Todd Boyd, I notice that Todd Cravatt mentions you, I don't see an entry though. Are you out there? Your mom calls often, but I haven't heard from you in forever. Congrats on the adoption. Does anyone remember Esther not only making you draw your nose circle, but making you color it in and rub the caulk off w/your nose? Mr. Smith.... What a trip...he can't still be alive...I walked that track a number of times myself, but I am blaming Lee Roberts Revere. She was the one that got "me" in trouble. :-) I noticed Troy Barlow's name was mentioned. He married Katie Trainor and they have a daughter and live in Charlotte. He owns a construction business. Enough for now...I have to work. Keep the stories coming!

I can't believe ya'll can remember all this. I can't even remember what happened yesterday. I do know Ms. Coleman from drivers ed. passed away several yrs ago. not to sure about any other teachers. My son Tim goes to Brentwood Middle. Brown barge is moving into brentwood, and they are combing wedgewood, brentwood, and brownsville middle at woodham for next year. I'm not sure who said it, but I think that's going to be a mess also. I'm praying for a opening at East Hill so Tim can go there next year. We tried the PCA thing he could not stand it. Our daughter Daybrie has been there since Kinder. and has loved it. She is graduating this year and can't wait! Boy, do I remember those days, counting down until grad. nothing else was on ny mind. Tracy Lebetter, when did you work at Cordove Cinema? I worked there my 11th and 12th yr. you must have came after I left. Cool job I thought. I saw the Lost Boys at least 100 times or more. Good movie!

You won't find me on Google. It's not like I have ever written "The Imagineering Field Guide to Magic Kingdom" or anything. If you ever need to locate me, I can be found in the Pensacola phone book under Joyce Southard. Just call my wife and ask if I am allowed to talk on the phone. One of my favorite days in High School had to be Ra'shid' day on Rashid Nasir's birthday. We skipped school and played volley ball all day at Alex's house. There must have been more than 20 of us there that day. I can't remember who won though. I feel like it was Alex Wright and Eric Troil, but it might have been Sunjay and Eric Regaspi. I think Morne and I came in 3rd or 4th. If I could redo any day it would have to be that one. Morne and I should have won. Here are the people "I THINK" I can remember that were there: Sunjay, Morne, Rashid, Mead, Steve Huber, Fred Jennings, Eric Troil, Eric Regaspi, Scott Rhodes, Cliff Calendar, Alex Wright, Todd Zeiler, Chandler Mock, Joe Campbell, Rollin Etheridge, Todd Carnley, Doug Dassinger. I know others were there also.

Mark, while I would never put any song past my mom, I can't say that I've ever heard that particular one. So, I'm going to play it safe and say that I HOPE you didn't learn that from her. Ha, ha, ha. I've been trying to track you down for years, man. Lots of Google-time. I take it you're not the middle-aged professional photographer who is quite active on the lecture circuit. Or the semi-pro cyclist from Boulder. For anyone who was wondering, I'm not Alex Wright the professional wrestler---though I have gotten a collect phone call for him from a fan, and one of my buddies in the office showed up one day with the action figure for me. That was fun. When I first heard about that guy, my first thought was, "This is professional wrestling. Don't these guys know they get to CHOOSE their names???"

Hi Lalla! Yep, I do remember those days of challenging each other for first chair in the Ransom band (and wasn't Theresa Rowell right up there with us?). Ever firgure out why we had to play those silly scales? My goal was to beat you! And that made me work harder than ever. But you were good. It's a shame you gave it up. I still have my flute although the pads are in bad shape, but I still get it out from time to time. Can play "Mary Had a Little Lamb" for my kids! Tried desperately to play the Tate fight song a while back (you would think I would remember it after playing it so much in the band, but no success). I had wondered if you remembered our rivalry! Funny how such things were so important back then and don't matter at all anymore! (Tried to type this once, but my computer ate it....)

Alex's parties were a ton of fun. I remember a song Alex's mom taught me: "Oh Isn't it great to love a girl so big and fat that when you go to love her you don't know where you're at So you have to take a little piece of chalk in your hand and hug a bit and chalk a bit to see where you began. One day I was a huggin and a chalkin a chalkin and a huggin away when I saw another fella with chalk in his hand coming from the other way OVER THE MOUNTAIN coming from the other way" Alex - did I just dream of this song, or did your mom teach it to me?

Somebody way back asked about a Language Arts Teacher our Senior Year....was it Mrs. Donnelley? It was her first year at Tate. My mom called me during beach week and told me that I would not graduate because I had only turned in 51 essays instead of the 52 required. (anybody remember that?). I wrote an essay and took it to Mrs. Donnelleys house off Creighton and she cleared me for graduation! If a certain person is out there.... don't you find that odd that I did not have all of my essays done since someone had paid me to do theirs? I'm not naming names...you know who you are! Hello, all! Great to see what everybody is up to. I'm looking forward to the reunion in June. This is all bringing back memories of a really wonderful time in my life. Quick update...I'm down in the Orlando area working as a concept designer, illustrator, and art director at Walt Disney Imagineering. I know, big surprise, eh? I've been married to Kim (Wehmeier, Tate '86) for 14 years this month. We've got two great kids---a 5 yr old boy named Finn (short for Phineas), and a 3 yr old daughter named Lincoln. Lots of fun there. Plus two big dogs---RocketDog and Edison. Thanks to Amy for tracking me down and goading me into signing in to the site. I'm one of those guys who reads a lot, but posts very rarely. Okay, never, actually. But you got me. With help from Lalla, of course. And Monica, from what I understand. Thanks, guys. I didn't mean to be so hard to reach. Even down here in Orlando, I'm hearing stories of Lalla accosting strangers in parking lots and asking them if they went to Tate in the mid-80's or know of anybody who did. Somebody's got to do it, I guess. Tracy and Shelley, I'm flattered that you two remember those parties. It was always a big deal to me when all of you guys would show up. I forwarded those comments to my mom, too, because I thought she'd get a kick out of them. Darren, thanks for the kind words on the books. I'm really glad to hear that you enjoy them. Oh, and one more thing...Elvis---August 16, 1977. Take care. See you soon.

Lalla, did I really take Driver's Ed?? News to me, (and my hubby...when we first moved into this house, I hit the garage 3 times) ~~~Lalla, did I totally make up Bobby's crush on Mrs. Noblin, you never answered and made me feel slightly perverted as a result. If he ever signs on, he'll tell me I was imagining things, I guess...but I swear that was a running joke at the time ~~ Hey Mead!!! Thanks for the update. Imagine, actual FACTS on this guest book! ~~Did you all see that Andrea Dewey is coming to the reunion all the way from TX?! Now no one has an excuse! ~~ And huge kudos to Alex Wright, who signed on AND included an awesome "Now" picture. Course, that's not enough for people stuck at home with sick chickens, like me. I'm pretty sure I'm going to need a family photo, and SOON. ~~Sunjay, if we don't see a picture of you and your family pronto, your house is in danger of being rolled. Who was with me the night we rolled Sunjay's house and found out later his culturally confused Mom was standing at the window watching us the whole time?~~ and does anyone feel just a little sorry for the Tate grads at the baseball fields? I can't help but have mental image of Donna The Conqueror with laser beam eye powers and debilitating charm ~~ And finally, Ashley, you make me laugh everytime you write... and your "boss"?! Hilarious.~~ wait, just one more thing... That armadillo web site address is a HOAX!!!!!!!

DONNA BEANE- Remember how we used to one up each other for First Chair in the flute section of the Ransom Band? Do you still play? I have picked back up on the piano enough to occasionally play in church, but so far I can't even play a C scale when I give our accompanist's flute a whirl! MS. COLO- Who had Ms. Peggy Colo for kindergarten at Jim Allen? I'm pretty sure Ledbetter and Faust were in there- who else? I saw her this fall- I run into her periodically and she is always so glad to visit a minute and is as sweet as ever. DRIVER'S ED- Oh my goodness, I definitely remember Clark and Coleman. Frightening indeed. Beth, Andrea, Darcie and I all had that class together, right? Who else was in there? Miranda? guys? Mason maybe? DOWNTOWN SPOT- What was the name of that dance club we used to go to near the Saengar? Has that already been mentioned? RESERVED PARKING- Do you remember how we could buy a parking spot and have our own numbered space? OK, so we walked uphill, both ways in the snow to school- I know, I know... SERIOUSLY- it is DIFFERENT for kids now, isn't it? We're not getting OLD are we??? Hope you've enjoyed RANDOM, MIRACULOUS, PERHAPS WITH FLAWED DETAILS memories with Lalla!

Hello to everyone. It took me a whole 12 hour shift to read this guest book. Im going to fill in the blanks for some questions. My daughter is graduating in May as a mighty Tate Aggie and my son is starting center for the newly revamped and improved Tate Aggie football team. We get all of the Aggie and community gossip firsthand. First of all "Bruce" the security guard is now a security guard at Solutia. And yes the Bigmac trick works to this day. So much for Homeland security.---Second, yes Woodham is closing as a high school. The end of an era.---Third, Tate finally has given our own Eddie Rigby his lifelong dream of being head football coach at Tate. He joins another native son. Todd Boyd is our baseball coach.---Fourth, Mrs Halfacre is still at Tate and still coaching volleyball. And last for now, I want to take one second and thank every person that said a little prayer for us during the 3 destructive hurricane seasons. You will definitly see changes whwn you come in June. As to Crockett and Glenn, You boys look marvelous (in spite of your age).

Wow, did I really graduate with all you old folks? I look at the photos and Linda and I are some of the few who don't have kids who are "going with" someone! Mine are 2 & 6 and I must be younger than 37, right? It has been a couple of weeks since I read the postings...it took me about 30 minutes to read all of them! Toddly...yes, we gave Mr. Newton a run for his money. English teacher, right? We diagrammed sentences FOREVER! NOBLIN...yes, I teach with her at GBHS and she is still there...Tyler, her son graduated from college a few years ago. She is planning on retiring one day...still cute as a button, but I think the kids still cheat! Challenger? Fullilove's class on the ITV or whatever it was called way back when. Elvis? In dance class with the biggest Elvis fan I could ever know..my dance instructor. We were immediately dismissed. Back then? I know most of us did things we regret...but isn't that part of learning and growing to become the fabulous citizens of society that we are today? You bet! We are all lucky to be here and will be so excited to see each other in June. Peace-out!

Yes, they are closing Woodham High School next school year. They are making one big middle school. They are combining Wedgewood and Brownsville and they will be at Woodham. They are transferring all of the high school students to other high schools like Pine Forest, Washington and Escambia. They are also closing Brown Barge but I haven't heard where they are moving that school.

Lucinda-I thought Marcus always had a the hots for Eddie Murphy because he made us do that routine to the song from Beverly Hills Cop! Julie-Remeber the lifeguard class we took at Washington High School? We made it to actually one class and I can't remember why we never went back! Lori-Ah, the banana clip! I loved mine! Susan-you are right, I forgot you were able to wear the shorts and sock and make it look good too! Must have been that golf look...it worked for your entire family!

Hey, has anyone heard that they may close Woodham? The last time I was home, Daddy mentioned that there was talk about closing the school due to population numbers dropping. No cowboy boots in high school, but I do own a pair of chocolate calf skin boots now...my first ebay purchase:0) I wish I had kept all my flats from high school, since they are coming back into style. Who remembers banana clips and combs for the hair????

Ashley.. you are right about Scott Tyler.. he does look the same! I agree with you about the weight thing! I was actually lighter than my high school weight at the 10 year but after 3 babies in 4 years I can't say that now!! You look great too :)

Speaking of teachers and their pet names for us, Mr. Andrews always called me L.D.,(lower development) thank you very much! I tried so hard in that trig. class, but just couldn't get it. I actually cried, real tears mind you, so he would give me a B-, instead of the C I deserved. So my grade pt. average wouldn't go down. And he actually did it! Gotta love him for that. Talk about stress.

Thank you Lucinda.... Yes, I remember being in the class with you with the drunk Driver's Ed teacher and I remember Mrs. Faulk, but I never learned any french because I always cheated off your paper, so I have no idea what you said!!! I think I just haven't thought about high school in about 20 years and the memories are SLOWLY coming back to me. I told my mom the other day how lucky she was to have had a daughter like me that never got into any trouble in high school. And... that I was a perfect angel and I always hung around girls that were perfect angels like you, Darcie, Beth, DeeDee, Nancy, Lalla... you know the group... and she hung up on me (just kidding). Nancy... I do have some bad news though... I do remember the shorts and socks.

Todd- I think I have you beat on graduation. I turned in my term paper to Mr. Ives at the Civic Center 15 minutes before being seated. He agreed to let me take the walk and I didn't even have to take his class because George Stone counted as your English. Boy was I sweating it when my parents met me there after I drove in from Orlando just in time for graduation.

Heather - I just saw your pictures of your family and you look great! Your boys are adorable! Remember at the 10 year reunion we were some of the only ones without kiddos? Now we both have boys...my how our lives have changed! I LOVE the names of your sons too! I am amazed at how many of our classmates look the same as they did in high school (in a good way!)!!! Off the top of my head, Alane Boudreau and Joanna Work look exactly the same!

Can you believe Mr. Smith was able to keep a job. i wonder how he worked around that. Drivers Ed is very different today. David's brother, Randy taught it for a while when he was at Navarre. when our "girls group" was staying at the beach on year, randy brought the drivers ed kids to the beach. he said they needed to learn to drive over the bridge. does anyone remember Mrs.Coleman had hair on her chest. Bless her heart, that was long before the day of laser hair removal.

I had forgotten how Mr Smith would "shorten" or basically make up his own names for us. Remember we weren't suppose to listen to the radios in the car-- thats if we were lucky to get one that had a radio--
